Born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, and raised in Miami, Florida, Cristele Pierre first discovered her passion for Architecture at the end of her high school career. It was through the numerous renovations and countless trips to The Home Depot that Cristele cultivated this new love for Architecture. When it came time to choose a career, Cristele was sure she wanted to be an Architect. She attended Miami-Dade College (MDC) and studied under Mario F. Ortega Studios to gain the experience evident in her works today. After MDC, Cristele attended Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) in Georgia, where she completed her undergraduate and graduate studies. In her time at SCAD, Cristele harnessed the ability to communicate a feeling about Architecture. There is more than meets the eye when one looks at a residential or commercial space; this feeling conveys an understanding that a “building is not just a building.”Architecture facilitates an environment that marks history, and Cristele is fascinated by the theory of Architecture that resonates with people throughout their lifetime, whether they believe it or not.
Architecture Methodology and Beliefs
The purpose of architecture is to evoke an emotional feeling. This vibrant feeling is based on its surroundings that are supported by an event. This event can be anything that excites or connects the human being to Architecture. Charles Eames states, “Eventually everything connects – people, ideas, objects. The quality of the connections is the key to quality per se.” This is easily relatable to my train of thought about Architecture. This feeling should benefit life, everything responding to good quality architecture. People will be inspired to gather, be happy, have epiphanies, and even find evidence of spirituality. Ultimately Architecture is meant to be meaningful exuding quality through many connections.
